At approximately 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19, the Frederick Police Department received a call for a group of males in the area of Hillcrest Elementary School who were “acting suspiciously, and may be armed,” according to officials.
As patrol officers responded to the scene, police said that the department received additional reports alleging that the group was chasing an unknown subject and shots had been fired.
When officers arrived at the scene, they canvassed the area for a victim or suspects, according to the department. Additional units arrived on the scene, including a K9 officer and the Major Crimes Unit, but could not locate suspects or a victim.
Investigators recovered two shell casings and located a residence that had been struck by a bullet, officials noted.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
